Pre-Season Baseball Camp 2023 Volunteer Information

This Camp is our Two-day Pre-Season Baseball Camp and Community Festival for our elementary and middle school participants and their families. This year, The Camp will take place on Saturday, April

 1st & Sunday, April 2nd.

Longmeadow field

Durham, NC 27701

Logistics:

All volunteers will have access to water stations that will be placed throughout the venue.

This event is held outdoors, so please come prepared with the following items:

  • Athletic wear or comfortable clothing (sneakers recommended).
  • A light jacket or rain jacket.
  • Refillable water bottle

If you are working, we recommend bringing a change of socks/shoes for your comfort because the grass can be very wet/dewy in the morning.

 When you arrive, you will be given a Six Athletics Volunteer t-shirt to change into for the day. Please plan to change in an open area, wearing a tank top or another shirt if you would like.

Weather Policy

The Pre-Season Camp is a “drizzle-or-shine” event. In the case that there is an absolute downpour, we will notify you via email on Friday, March 31st.

What do I need to check in on the day of the event?

Upon arrival, please check in at the volunteer tent with a Six Athletic Staff Member.

To speed up your check-in process, please try to fill out the Volunteer Waiver at this link before arriving. If you cannot complete it in advance, we will have paper copies available on the day of.

Roles

General Volunteer

Other duties will be assigned as needed and volunteers may be asked to float between various volunteer roles.

COACHES

Coaches will be asked to work with other coaches at various sections on the field and will control Baseball Work Shops. Baseball experience is preferred but not necessary, although all volunteer coaches will complete a briefing between 9:30 to 9:45.

Note: For this role, the time is from 9:15am to 2pm. July 1st & 2nd.

Activity Booths

Booths include face-painting, art & crafts, Baseball activities, etc.

Note: For this role, the time is from 10am to 2pm. shifts available only for April 1st & 2nd.

Photography/Videography

Please bring your own camera. In this position, volunteers will be assigned to capture a certain area/set of activities.

Note: For this role, the time is from 10am to 2pm.

Set-Up/Closing Crew

Set-up includes setting up fields, tables, tents, art supplies, etc. some heavy lifting may be required.

Closing shift includes assistance with breaking down field, tents, art booths, and other materials as needed at the end of the day.

Note: There is one shift for set-up 9am to 10am and one for closing crew 2pm to 3pm available for each day.
